REPORT OF CRANE ACCIDENT AT CUMWHINTON
A report of crane accident at Cumwhinton to Robert Pickering a porter at Cumwhinton station on the Midland Railway was seriously injured by a crane accident at that station on Thursday evening. He was struck by the crane handle on the forehead and rendered quiet unconscious at the time. He was subsequently removed to the Cumberland infirmary where he is progressing favourably.

NOTICE OF INQUEST INTO DEATH OF ROBERT PICKERING.
The death of Robert Pickering while working a five ton crane with Isaac Scott, Station Master. He and the deceased were lowering the jib, when the deceased is supposed to have pulled back the clutch throwing the jib on to the handles causing both to bee thrown down. The deceased suffered a fractured skull and despite operation to remove a piece of bone from the brain, he died in the infirmary.
