Built of white brick it stands out in a village of predominantly red sandstone buildings.
On the green opposite is a stone mounted on a plinth stating Wesley preached from it in 1782.

A tablet commorating the rebuilding of the church by Lady Anne Clifford. She has a number of monuments etc. in the area. See also the Countess Pillar.

Panel on the pillar in the porch. The church was re-built in 1788.
Panel on opposite pillar commemorating the restoration in 1881.
A notice to commemorate the building of the steeple in 1727. Commemorates the Rector Jeff Wybergh and the Church Wardens Thomas Backhouse, Richard Addison, Richard Bewley, William Scott.
The outside wall of the chancel has two stones set in to it.
A stone commemorating the consecration of the church in 1678.
A stone commemorating the re-building of the church in 1761 and names the churchwardens at the time as George Martindale and John Sanderson.
SAINT NINIANS CHURCH, BROUGHAM. 1841 records the building of the porch over the 17th Century door.

Bowness on Solway hearse house on edge of churchyard. The oval plaque reads " Thomas Pattinson of Easton, Gentleman who was the principal benefactor for this house and hearse in the year 1782"
The church gates at Kirkby Lonsdale originally made in 1823 and have been recently renovated.
